1. What is the value addition of PGDM over MBA?
A number of special forums have been created exclusively for the PGDM students. Further, ENGLISH COMMUNICATION LAB along with LIFE SKILLS programme aims at honing the communicative efficiency of the PGDM students. Also, JAPANESE LANGUAGE training is specially provided for
the PGDM students for making them employable in Multi National companies. They are also made IT SAVVY in order to fulfill the requirements of placement companies. Facilities for getting training in such advanced courses like SAP, Minitab & SPSS for data interpretation are available only to the PGDM students desirous of
improving their qualities. Language certification programmes like BEC & IELTS which have been approved by the British Council are conducted from time to time to enabling the students to make Value Addition to their degrees.
2. Why to opt for PGDM instead of MBA @ NIST?
MBA is a Degree whereas PGDM is a Professional Programme which aims at the wholesome development of the students through its multifarious course activities.
3. Whether PGDM is recognized by different job sectors or not?
Yes, it is very much recognized by the industries as it has been created by the AICTE after the image of IIMs.
4. Are PGDM & MBA having equal value in market or, different?
Academically both PGDM and MBA enjoy the same status, but the industries prefer the PGDM students over the MBA students because the PGDM students have been specially equipped with different skills through the specially designed courses in their syllabus. Several corporate personalities are invited to deliver talks to the PGDM students to familiarize them with the recent trends of the corporate world.
5. How the syllabus of PGDM is designed and who designs them?
PGDM syllabus is designed by the experts both from industries and the academies to suit the specific needs of the market, and it is designed and redesigned from time to time taking into account the changing economic scenario of the country. It is here that the PGDM course has an edge over that of MBA. Thus, the course of PGDM is more flexible and has an industrial flavour of its own.
6. The placement of MBA & PGDM students at NIST is not so good. Why?
It is not true. We have a track record of giving placement to about 90% of students since its beginning. Our Alumni (past students) are the testimony to it.
7. Is the PGDM program of NIST approved by BPUT?
BPUT has no jurisdiction over PGDM programme of NIST as PGDM is an autonomous programme and runs its syllabus, placement and operation under the strict surveillance of AICTE.
8. Who will provide the pass certificates for PGDM: BPUT, AICTE or NIST?
It is provided by NIST which has been duly approved and recognized by AICTE, which is the apex body of Technical Education in the country.
9. When MBA program was there at NIST, then why another program equivalent to MBA was designed?
NIST is an institution which looks ahead of time. It desires to capture both the national and international markets making an intensive study of the economic scenario of the Globe. NIST intends to produce students with rich social, economic and professional background who would be unique and could surpass others in the national job market.
10. What about the placement of the PGDM students in NIST?
About 90% placement has been done in the first and second batches of PGDM course in various reputed companies.
